For
all new patients a full assessment will be carried out. We may already have some
information about your concerns with your current dentures from the letter
of referral from your dentist. However, following
your examination at the practice, a broader overview of the problems will
become apparent.
The assessment includes:
-
A review of the mouth, teeth and supporting tissues.
-
A comprehensive medical history review.
-
Any necessary x-rays.
-
An oral cancer screening of the mouth and adjacent areas.
-
A detailed analysis of your denture history.
-
A systematic review of the existing dentures and the denture bearing areas.
Occasionally it may be necessary to take impressions to give a
more comprehensive overview of the mouth. This may take place at the visit, or,
in certain situations a second visit may be necessary.

Following an in-depth analysis, a treatment plan will be
provided for you to explain the aims and likely outcome of treatment. Before
active treatment begins, you will be advised of the procedures to be undertaken
and the fees involved. These will be given to you in the form of a report, which
will be sent to you following the assessment.
Fee payments may be by
cheque, Mastercard, Visa or cash.
Where treatment is especially complex
or of a lengthy nature, staged payments may be necessary. This is often the case
where laboratory fees are involved. In each case, the fee related to your
treatment will be clearly set out.
